pyreofcrom-deactivated20130216 asked: I have to say I agree with you on the 'men getting no attention' thing, but I don't know if it's necessarily a bad thing. We all want to live in this bizarre humanist utopia we've self created, it doesn't exist. It's a biological impossibility. In the wild, women would have adorned themselves to attract a mate and the males would have fought for breeding rights. Asking men or women to be kind to you and compliment your efforts or say “it’s OK you’re not Thor or Iron Man”, just ain’t gonna happen
This is exactly the kind of thinking i’m talking about. We don’t live in “the wild”. Gender norms are shifting, the world is shrinking, homogenising. It’s happening this very minute.
Claiming biological impossibility is a bit of a cop out, bro. I don’t mean to be a cunt, but it is. Men were saying that women couldn’t handle the real world, and should be sheltered etc. because they were too weak. I think the last century has more than proven that to be bullshit. I can think of so many “biological impossibilities” that have been shat on, and anyway, look at the animal kingdom - many birds of paradise have male display as a major part of the reproduction.
And anyway, we’re moving towards a future where science can dick on natural biology. In a year, if I so desired, I could be a woman. As science progressed, this will be a more complete process. Considering that, I really can’t see it as a major leap to consider that guys should be allowed to feel good about who they are without having to behave all pathetically macho.
